They have a network of 10,000 + farmers that have access to full bundled services - certified seeds, agrochemical and fertilizer inputs, extension services. The organization has started a new company for value addition of chips processing for local and export markets situated in Mau Narok, Nakuru County.
JOB SUMMARY
The Shift Manager will be responsible for leading
a team and ensuring smooth operations during assigned shifts. This role
involves supervising employees, maintaining standards of production and productivity
goals. Shift Managers handle scheduling, monitor inventory levels, and ensure
compliance with company policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and supervise team members, ensuring they understand and complete their tasks.
- Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities to maintain a balanced workload.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to employees, especially new hires.
- Monitor employee performance, offer coaching, and address any behavioral or performance issues.
- Maintain proper record of shift activities and provide to management
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company procedures.
- Create works schedule, manage workflow, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor productivity and identify areas for improvement to enhance service quality.
- Check inventory levels and ensure necessary supplies are stocked.
- Identify internal processes to create an increased capacity
- Maintain equipment and tools, ensuring they are clean, functional, and safe to use.
- Organize and manage shift schedules, always ensuring adequate staffing.
- Handle shift changes, replacements, and manage employee attendance issues.
- Approve or deny time-off requests within guidelines to maintain proper staffing.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure employees adhere to regulations.
- Keep team informed of operational changes and safety procedures
- Reconcile cash at the end of the shift and complete any required documentation.
- Quickly address any issues that arise, such as equipment malfunctions or staffing shortages.
- Resolve conflicts between team members, promoting a positive work environment.
- Make quick, effective decisions to maintain smooth operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, manufacturing or science.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role of 3 years in manufacturing.
- Experience in the food and processing industry is preferred.
- Certification will be an added advantage
- Hands-on experience in customer service, inventory management, and team supervision is often beneficial.
- Familiarity with inventory management software, or scheduling software is often preferred.
- Basic proficiency with office software like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or Google Workspace.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks as needed (e.g., lifting or moving items).
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and
holidays as may be required.
